Slow Down (4:52)

Long were the days when we were young
Smiles on a face could be found
What could be better than the sun
Shining on little truthful ones

Hold tight! Hold tight!

We rush through the days without pause
Serious days weigh us down
Even the mighty seas go calm
I long for a time to become

Open! Open!

Detach from the psycho-pressure-load
Extremes are anxiety's love
Ten million can't all be number one
In The Middle Way we are strong

Slow down! Slow down!

All in the Name of God (3:34)

Bombs, grounding airports
Bombs, smashing car doors
Bombs, blasting embassies
Bombs, because you hate me
All in the name of God

Kill over doctrine
Kill Jews and Muslims
Kill all the Christians
Kill because your fathers killed
All in the name of God

Peace by theocracy
Never was and never will be
Blood stains your families
Blood, it's the only way
All in the name of God

The Middle Way (1:34)

My heart follows the way, honor and courage, The Middle Way
Spirit to guide me, spirit to guide me, spirit to guide me, spirit to guide me
My heart follows the way, honor and courage, live every day

Far Right (3:49)

They came; they took, and never thought to share with you
Your life, destroyed by ignorance and greed once more
No room for color, they only like to see themselves
The threat still lives and is stronger than you'll ever know

Right, someday you'll pay for your sins
Far Right, we're starting to pay for your sins

You worshipped the soil and the Great Spirit provided you
But then they came, they took the soil, converted you
Convert, control, they work your bloody soul for more
The threat still lives and possibly lives next door

You came; you took, and never thought to share with me
My life, destroyed by ignorance and greed once more

Our Father is a Democrat (6:25)
(Dedicated to Bernard)

He's been married for 58 years
As a husband and father he's the best
He served his country in World War II
And he never misses church
Keeping us together too
Teaching us to know what's true

Our father is a righteous man
Our father, he's my hero
Our father is a patriot
Our father is a Democrat

Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson
James Dobson, Ted Haggard
John Hagee, Rod Parsley
Tom DeLay, and the R.C.R.C. *
Organized religion screws
They love their power more than they love you

Rush Limpjaw, Ann Coulter
Sean Hannity, little Bill O'Reilly
Dennis Miller was never funny
Rupert Murdoch has got too much money
Spinning lies to disguise the truth
FOX should be ashamed to call it news

Dick Cheney, Halliburton
Condoleezza, Ms. Chevron
Donald Rumsfeld and the Carlyle Group
The whole Bush Clan, Zapata and Pennzoil
Corporate interests before you
Karl Rove should be in jail

* Roman Catholic Republican Church

Salvation in Me (4:50)

Deep inside the master waits with ice-age patience in glory
My soul is life, pure white light; the truth is standing before me

Salvation in me
Salvation isn't free
Salvation in me….

Reach for the sky, deep inside, don't be afraid of what you see
It doesn't want me to look inside, guardian angel protect me

You can't have it both ways
A hypocrite can't be saved
A liar cannot be saved
A bigot cannot be saved
Dividers cannot be saved
You can't have it both ways
Your money can't buy a save
But someday you will pay

New Age (3:38)

Make it a life worth living
Fill it with love and giving
Center on truth and wisdom
Balance the soul on vision

New age, out with the old ways
New age, healing the ways of the world

Give up your self-addiction
Humble yourself before them
Keep only good intentions
Body and soul connection

I will bend; I will flow
I will change; I am strong

To Jill Jude (6:14)
(Dedicated to Jill Jude Isaacson-Djuric)

So many years ago we start
It's hard to believe it goes so fast
We were holding you so tight
Heaven's kisses from our hearts

Remember the days when we were young
The happiest days that I could want
So much promise in your eyes
Now your worries are all mine

I feel the love only you could know
I've been blessed to have known you
You're my friend, I will miss you so

I'll follow you when my work's done
I'll sit next to you and touch the past
I am always by your side
You were heaven to us all

Wanishi; Kitaholel *

* Leni Lenape Native American for, "Thank you; I love you."

Old Days (3:04)

In the old days when the Indians rode the lakes
There were no waves from the motorboats we have today
It was peaceful and easier to go your way
There was time to do what we don't today

Time...time…time…time…

In the old days when fiberglass was just a dream
Transportation was carved into hollowed trees
Paddle power gave a man a good physique
Now on weekends all the cowboys water-ski

My canoe is new and it shines
But it's no match for a twin-engine prime

Winola (7:06)

Over and over and over and over again
Year after year from the mist on the lake she returns
Rising beneath the August moon
Long ago Winola was her home

She was a princess who died for her love in the end
And I've been in love with Winola since I was a kid
Water lilies open at her feet
They carry her spirit to those who still believe

She spared my life when I was a child

Winola touches my skin
Winola pulling me in
Stronger and stronger I give
Immersed in her body she lives

Beautiful maiden betrayed by her father and tribe
She fell in love with a white man the end of July
Deeper and deeper love descends
Drowning her love with both his hands

She spared my life… She spared my life

Winola touches my skin
Winola loves me again
Someday I'll lay with her again
And rise beneath the August moon with her

The Last Flower (3:14)

Some narrow-minded people are so easily impressed
They admire the first flowers, losing sight of the rest
Some crazy system lets them think the first are the best
They believe the first flowers are a gift to the rest

The last flower takes its time to bloom
The last flower is the most beautiful
The most beautiful

The first flowers get more water, more attention and more breaks
More praise to feed their egos, so we repeat the same mistakes
The last flower knows humility, and its character is true
The last flower's got the power to feel empathy for you

Prince of Peace (5:53)

The catch is running deep
Brave-soul fishermen out on the sea
A light, cast from a beach
Calling us home to Galilee

For too long our leaders have failed
For tax cuts and Jesus, war has prevailed
The time has come to correct the mistake
Peace is waiting in The Middle Way

Prince of Peace, lead us home
Prince of Peace, someday we will be home

If He were here, what would Jesus say?
You've learned nothing, creating more hate
People hear His living word and obey!
For love is everything and peace is the way

Pennsylvania (4:22)

Keystone to the free world
My home, blue and bright
This land holds my deep roots
This land gives me life

Winding Susquehanna
Soulful scenery
Refuge for my weary
Inner energy

In the morning when I rise
It feels good to be alive
Endless Mountain countryside
Pennsylvania, one more time

Birthplace of my country
Precious liberty
Your grace lifts my spirit
To the place freedom rings

About "Songs from The Middle Way":

"Songs from The Middle Way" is a compilation of songs about deep and personal core losses; the loss of loved ones, the loss of faith in organized religion, the loss of faith in one's country under an arrogant and divisive administration, and the loss of faith in the attitudes of so many people. These songs were written through adverse times from a position of strength in The Middle Way, a place of calm and clarity, where extremes are to be avoided.

"Songs from The Middle Way" opens with a longing for days past in SLOW DOWN, before diving into the destructive nature of religion-based politics in ALL IN THE NAME OF GOD, followed by a pledge to courage and strength in THE MIDDLE WAY, and the payback for ignorance and greed in the neoconservative ballad, FAR RIGHT. The line-up continues with OUR FATHER IS A DEMOCRAT, dedicated to my father who was everything Karl Rove and the GOP spin machine pretend to be, but truly are not; then moving to SALVATION IN ME, an epiphany that God is ever-present within us; non-discriminating; patiently waiting for contact, but not through self-absorbed ministers in their newfound political power, poisoning the well we all drink from. In essence, no political party and its self-serving supporters have the right to lay claim to the moral high ground and patriotism, claiming to be born again, while practicing hypocritical, self-indulgent and divisive ways.

The tempo of "Songs from The Middle Way" changes with a call to a more meaningful way of life in NEW AGE, followed by the lowest point in the line-up, TO JILL JUDE, dedicated to my Godchild who recently passed from this world in the prime of her life. A second wind enters with OLD DAYS, again longing for calmer waters; WINOLA, Native-American folklore about a lake and the princess (true character) for which it is named; and THE LAST FLOWER, a message to all who overlook the late bloomers. Mozart, Van Gogh, and Einstein, were gifted. Most kids labeled as gifted, under the "No Child Left Behind" Act of 2002, are not. It only promotes arrogance.

"Songs from The Middle Way" concludes with PRINCE OF PEACE, a plea to the true Jesus to return and lead us home and away from the mess created by the Bush Jr. Administration and its supporters. The bonus track, PENNSYLVANIA, completes the entire compilation on a patriotic note and pride in what was and what can still be. I love my country and refuse to be governed or blessed through fear.
